The body and the life it contains is the only reference that accompanied and accompanies every human relationship, in glory or in dust, from birth to dissolution.
In this historical period, even before the pandemic introduced it into our imagination, an idea of loss and substitution of the experience of the living was already creeping in through the writing of a code that could replace it, surrogate it, expand it but also subdue it.
We have therefore dedicated ourselves to an idea of care and protection of this only possible body until now. We accepted the need to put the human back at the center of the interest of a scene that declares itself alive and present, together with a community who comes as if he were coming to a necessary revelation. “Their body (of those on stage) is also and still my body” (thinks the audience present). Fragile, imposing, necessary, tragic.
HellO° is an offshoot of our latest work for the stage: OtellO. Not an excerpt but a further study starting from the work of William Shakespeare, where the words create a tragedy that wouldn’t have basis to reach the tragic epilogue. But the body never lies. It is on this word-lie/body-truth duality that the entire work, including this “solo”, develops its research and its conviction of necessary necessity. Contemplating bodies in their ineluctable essence.
HellO° is therefore the body of the tragedy. Tragedy of language and tragedy of the body subjected to its laws. HellO° is the glorious and vibrant body that takes on all the contemporary tension to which it is literally exposed until it loses consciousness and knowledge.
HellO° is the solo that presents itself to you today. Observe the details of a body triumphant in its fragility, its movements and its stasis, its intensity and its color, its desires and wonders, its positioning itself in front of you as the only certainty of your presence and reality.
