TONO
an acoustic/dynamic experiment

Two dancers wearing stereophonic headphones into an amplified place carry out a choreographic structure strictly organized in unison.
A dj at his console defines the acoustic quality of the dynamic event, by processing: the amplified sound of the bodies, the sound of the room, the musical composition the dancers listen on their headphones, the silence. There’s no music.
The structure makes use of classical elements clinging with masterly skill to a definite rhythmic articulation that is always a direct connection between an organized movement and its reproducibility.
Such a connection is put into crisis by a substantial variation in the level of the acoustic output that completely changes the relationship to the deep-set perception each person has got with choreography.
What remains to one’s eyes is the organic condition of the “dancing body” totally laid bare in its residual production of uncontrollable rejects, in its fallibility as a “subject”.
The composition literally pours out as an indissoluble unit and directly joining a deaf look that is drawn inside a new context of perception. Everything sinks in the surface of the evidence once again.
The research investigated by Kinkaleri starting from the show TONO, had further developments and generated the performances VARIAZIONI DI TONO and TONO².
